Oral History Space Daily Schedule

THURSDAY MAY 13th - MONDAY MAY 17th, 2010
INSIDE THE PUBLIC SOCIAL UNIVERSITY ORAL HISTORY SPACE…
(SOUTH PARK BLOCK C: S.W. PARK AVENUE BETWEEN MADISON & JEFFERSON)

11 a.m. to NOON: MORNING OPEN BROWSING
We put together a library that we want you to experience, featuring oral histories from a diverse range of cultures, communities, projects and archives, in printed and recorded formats. Also, books about what oral history is and what makes it happen. Browse at your leisure during morning, midday and evening browsing.

12:00 to 1:30 p.m.: DROP IN ORAL HISTORY
(Concurrent with Lunchtime Presentation Series) Every day, an oral historian will be in the space, eager to record one oral history, which will be included in our library and then in the Oral History Space project archive. This archive will join reputable permanent archives and be published at a later date. Each interviewee will receive a free recording of her/his oral history. Come by and let us know that you want to participate.

1:30 to 2:30 p.m.: MIDDAY OPEN BROWSING
More browsing at your leisure. Get inspired. Learn things. Maybe think about the questions you want to ask people and how you want to document the process and responses.

2:30 to 5:00 p.m.: SCHEDULED ORAL HISTORIES
Like the drop-in Oral Histories, only prescheduled. If you are interested in having an oral history recorded and included in the Oral History Space library and project archive, please let us know. Our email address is publicsocialuniversity@gmail.com.

5:00 to 6:00 p.m.: EVENING OPEN BROWSING
Even more browsing at your leisure. Sit, look, listen and learn. Then start a conversation and see what happens. No evening browsing on Monday (5/17) so that we can party with fellow Open Engagement participants and attendees.

ALL EVENTS ARE FREE AND DEPENDENT ON PUBLIC PARTICIPATION!
